Benjamin G. Totanes Sr.

Oct. 19, 1935 -- Jan. 22, 2004

Benjamin G. Totanes Sr., 68, of Manteca died Thursday at Palm Haven Care Center.

Mr. Totanes was a native of the Philippines and lived in Tracy two years. He was a retired colonel in the Philippine military, serving for 30 years. He also was a public high school teacher and school principal in the Philippines. He was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Tracy. He enjoyed golf, jogging and tennis.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Totanes of Tracy; children, Benjamin Totanes Jr., Christopher Totanes and Melissa Totanes, all of Tracy, and Edgardo Totanes of Virginia Beach, Va.; brothers, Ernesto Totanes of South San Francisco, Pedro Totanes Jr. and Virgilio Totanes, both of the Philippines, and Stan Totanes of Toronto, Canada; sisters, Teresita Escribano, Loreto Mancini and Virginia Orr, all of Toronto, and Corazon Macalinao of Mississauga, Canada; and three grandchildren.

The rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hotchkiss Mortuary, Tracy. A Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bernard's Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Philippines. Visitation from 2 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.

COL. BENJAMIN G. TOTANES, SR. (Ret.)

1935-2004

A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, teacher, and military officer went to be with the Lord on 22 January 2004 in Manteca, California, USA.

His survivors include his wife Jean; his children: Benjo and wife Emily, Edgar and wife Teena, Melissa and Christopher; his grandchildren: Sean, Kristine, and Erika; and his brothers and sisters: Ernie, Tessie, Cora, Lori, Ver, Jun, Stan and Virgie, and their families.

His family will receive relatives and friends at the Camp Aguinaldo Mortuary (behind St. Ignatius Cathedral) beginning on Monday, February 2, 2004. Necrological services will be held immediately after the 6:00 p.m. Mass on Wednesday, February 4.

Interment will be on Thursday, February 5, 2004, 12:00 noon at the Holy Cross Memorial Park, Novaliches, Quezon City.
